Summer School Intensive Sculpture Workshops,

Camp Creative, Bellingen

Sculpture Workshop Intensive (9^th – 13th January 2012)

As you immerse yourself in this five day sculpture workshop you will learn about sculptural language, materials, & methodology as you develop your own project.

You may already have an idea that you would like to realise as a sculpture, or be guided to develop a starting point through discussion with the tutor. Either way, the course is bound to be engaging as each student finds their unique direction, & take steps to produce a work of sculpture as the week unfolds.

As each student will be working with a personal vision in mind, the methods & processes employed in the creation of their work will vary in response to the particular form, or language of the sculpture, but may include;

Clay modelling
Mould making & casting
Direct plaster modelling
Carving
Construction

The course will be both fun & challenging, & you will be able to share a relaxing, provided lunch with other participants between sessions.

It is suitable for all levels of experience, including the complete beginner!

Schedule

Day 1

am – Group discussion, course overview, examples of historical sculptural work, drawing of ideas, & individual discussion.

pm – Making of maquettes (small scale models), armature (wire support) if necessary, commence full size project

Days 2 & 3

All day – Continue sculptural project, reviewing elements of sculptural “language” & design.

Day 4

am – Begin plaster waste mould making process.

pm – Finish mould making, open mould, clean mould & prepare for casting.

Day 5

am – Make plaster cast

pm- Finish plaster cast, chip out cast from the mould, make repairs & refinements.

Life Drawing Group now meets weekly at Damien's Studio

Damien now facilitates The Lismore Life Drawing Group, which meets weekly at his studio on Tuesday evenings from 6.30 - 8.45, to draw from a variety of live models, & with varied poses.

This is an untutored session, & costs $10 unwaged / $15 waged.

Private Tuition Available

Damien offers individual tuition and consultation to those who cannot attend a scheduled class, who wish to do extra classes, or who have specific requirements that do not fit within the context of the usual workshop class (e.g. silicon mould making`, resin casting etc.).

Damien has a range of work, created over the past 13 years, that are available for sale.

Plaster models are on display at his studio, and upon request, can be cast in bronze.

New works are constantly in progress, and special works can be created for you on commission.

New Workshop Classes in Lismore

Classes are held at Damien's South Lismore Studio on an ongoing weekly basis. They cater for all levels of experience, providing fundamental skills and knowledge to the novice, and augmenting skills and knowledge for those with more experience, who have specific requirements, or are simply seeking different ways of seeing and making sculpture.

Tuition is individually based within a small class environment. The classes are enjoyable and relaxed, and encourage student interaction.

A class pass system is used, rather than a term based schedule, allowing flexibility for the student.

Class Times

Saturday mornings: 10 am - 1 pm

Thursday evenings: 6 pm - 9 pm

(or other times by arrangement)

Class Prices (including most materials)

5 class pass = $165

10 class pass = $315

Casual Class = $35

Classes are held at Studio 4/14 Foley's Rd, South Lismore at Silver Cloud Studios.
