Summer School Intensive Sculpture Workshops,
Camp Creative, Bellingen
Sculpture Workshop Intensive (9th – 13th January 2012)
As you immerse yourself in this five day sculpture workshop you will learn about sculptural language, materials, & methodology as you develop your own project.
You may already have an idea that you would like to realise as a sculpture, or be guided to develop a starting point through discussion with the tutor. Either way, the course is bound to be engaging as each student finds their unique direction, & take steps to produce a work of sculpture as the week unfolds.
As each student will be working with a personal vision in mind, the methods & processes employed in the creation of their work will vary in response to the particular form, or language of the sculpture, but may include;
The course will be both fun & challenging, & you will be able to share a relaxing, provided lunch with other participants between sessions.
It is suitable for all levels of experience, including the complete beginner!
Schedule
Day 1
am – Group discussion, course overview, examples of historical sculptural work, drawing of ideas, & individual discussion.
pm – Making of maquettes (small scale models), armature (wire support) if necessary, commence full size project
Days 2 & 3
All day – Continue sculptural project, reviewing elements of sculptural “language” & design.
Day 4
am – Begin plaster waste mould making process.
pm – Finish mould making, open mould, clean mould & prepare for casting.
Day 5
am – Make plaster cast
pm- Finish plaster cast, chip out cast from the mould, make repairs & refinements.
